清代宫廷中，案上文玩陈设极为讲究，美器必配美座，无论瓷器、玉器、铜器等均配有底座，甚至园林中的小花盆也配有底座。在明清绘画中，特别是宫廷绘画，配有底座的陈设器比比皆是。从存世品看，底座多为木制，以紫檀最为珍贵，故宫博物院编，2016年出版的《器座》一书中，收录了众多精美底座，可作赏鉴。 此对作品以紫檀木为材精雕而成，以镂雕高浮雕之法，雕山石层层叠叠，参差嶙峋，其上兰草丛生，展露于山石之间，生机勃勃。整体设计极为巧妙，颇具自然意趣。从此器的制作工艺及手法可以看出，古代宫廷或达官显贵府邸对于艺术品陈设效果高贵典雅的追求。
