An etched morion, Nuremberg, circa 1580 Two-piece skull with tall turned and roped comb. Riveted to the nape an iron plume holder, the comb with two fastening holes for the plume. The lower end of the skull surrounded by lining rivets with ornamental brass rosettes. Pointed brim with turned edge. Decorated all over with fine black stain etchings of a couple in contemporary attire surrounded by scrolling leaves. Height 27 cm.Condition: II -
