ca. 900–1100 AD. Viking Era. Four penannular omega brooches with circular sectioned pin loop and a fine pin; the brooches have triangular terminals with granulated decoration arranged in geometric patterns; the three brooches on the right hand-side display small hoops from which colourful beads used to hang. Brooches such as these ones were status symbols, tradable goods in lieu of currency, and are often found as grave goods to provision the dead for the afterlife; good condition.Provenance: Obtained from B.C. ; previously in a collection formed since the 1970s on the UK and European art market.Size: L:Set of 4; 60mm / W:43mm ; 60g
