Description

款识：王蘧常书于沪南寓庐时年七十有九。 钤印：嘉兴王蘧常瑗仲父 王蘧常，中国哲学史家、历史学家、著名书法家。其父王钧畇为清光绪十五年举人，工书法，博学。蘧常幼年受父影响，七岁时能作诗。早年曾从师沈曾植治学。1920年入无锡国学专修馆。1927年去上海先后执教于光华、大夏、复旦、交通等大学。晚年致力于书法，精心研究汉简，欲化汉简、汉帛、汉陶于一冶，拓展了章草之领域。其书法作品在日本享誉极高，人称“古有王羲之，今有王蘧常”。曾任上海交通大学、光华大学今华东师范大学、复旦大学教授，文史哲艺俱通，著作宏富。
