Lee Ufan (b. 1936): From a Revelation 6 Lithograph in black and beige on wove paper, 2003, signed, dated and numbered 47/50 in pencil. 28 1/2 x 23 1/2 in. (sheet), 31 1/4 x 25 3/4 in. (frame). Note: Based on Eastern and Western philosophy and aesthetics, Korean-born artist Lee Ufan's work emphasizes structure through a system of lines and planes. Ufan is known for his unconventional processes that examine the relationships between the viewer, the art and the space they both occupy. During the 1970s, Ufan was a central figure in the Korean monochrome painting school known as Dansaekhwa. Their works were characterized by repetitive, minimalist gestures that explored the relationship between the physical body and temporality. This would remain a theme in Ufan's work throughout his career and can be seen in the lithograph in this lot. Property from the Collection of Tom Levine
