BIOGRAPHY: In 1928, Warner Kreuter started a magazine of his own in the tradition of The New Yorker, called the Modern Milwaukeean for which he created striking Art Deco covers, designs, typography and illustrations. He also worked as an illustrator for several newspapers including the Milwaukee Sentinel, Milwaukee Journal, and Chicago Tribune from the 1920's thru the1960's. He illustrated the daily fashion newspaper column "Alice in Fashionland" for the Milwaukee Sentinel in 1925. He was also a popular pin-up girlie art illustrator. He also illustrated books, posters, and calendars & designed greeting and playing cards. His pin-up illustrations have sold at various auction houses including Heritage Galleries.This piece measures 16 3/4" by 12 1/2" overall and is signed lower right and with his address label and titled on the back. Near mint condition. Probably dates from the 1950s.
