此盖盒属象形器，整体呈寿桃形，子母口，深腹圈足，外壁通体采用雕漆工艺，于朱红大漆之上雕琢出层层图案，色泽鲜艳明亮。上以龟背锦为装饰，寿桃与龟皆象征长寿如意，整体髹漆厚重，质地细腻，造型雍容华贵，典雅不凡，刀法快利，锋棱显露，巧夺天工，为同时期雕漆精品。 漆器剔红技法成熟于宋元时期，发展于明清两代。明黄成《髹饰录》中写道：“宋元之制，藏锋清楚，隐起圆滑，纤细精致。”后代剔红以厚叶肥花、姿态艳丽为胜。此件盖盒髹漆肥厚，漆色纯正润美，图纹别致，雕工纯熟，藏锋不露、磨工圆滑。制者观察入微，可谓技臻艺绝。
