A lovely Cocle frutero from Panama, ca. 600 - 800 AD. This Joaquin Polychrome type pedestal bowl is 10-1/2 inches in diameter and 5-5/8 inches high. Its quartered design depicts Supernatural Serpents, a motif characteristic of the Conte style. Painted in red, black and purple over cream slip. Typical restored breaks, good mineral deposits. Cf.
