This painting is the original painting which was published on the Republic of the Marshall Islands 32c Mk.I Swordfish stamp issued November 1, 1996. On April 11, 1940, taking off from the carrier HMS Furious, a Fairey Mk.I Swordfish made the first coordinated torpedo attack in the history of naval warfare. Two days later, a Swordfish flying from HMS Warspite spotted and sunk the German submarine U-64, Britain Fleet Air Arm's first German U-boat sinking of World War II. Image Size: 16.5 x 14 in.
