Set of Nelson Rockefeller Collection porcelain dinner service in the Golden Butterfly pattern, decorated with golden butterflies, a symbol of happiness, set against a starry cobalt ground, and alternating vignettes of landscapes and flying birds. The service includes one coffee pot, one tea pot, one creamer, one lidded sugar bowl, one salad bowl, one serving bowl, one large platter, one oval soup tureen and cover, one salt dish, twenty-three saucers, twenty-four teacups, twenty-four side plates, ten lunch plates, twelve soup plates, and twenty-three dinner plates. Each piece is marked "The Nelson Rockefeller Collection NR Mottahedeh Vista Alegre Portugal" along the underside. The original of this service was made in China for the East India Company during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (1736-1795). In 1976, Nelson Rockefeller chose this as a design for his collection produced by Mildred Mottahedeh. It became the personal dinner service of President Ronald Reagan while in the White House. Height ranges from 7/8 in to 10 1/4 in; width ranges from 3 3/8 in to 13 3/4 in.
