the circular body supported on a short foot and terminating into a slightly flared mouth rim, both the interior and exterior covered overall with a thick layer of bluish-grey glaze with a web of fine russet crackles, leaving the foot rim unglazed and revealing the dark-brown 'iron' foot (14.6cm diameter) Footnote: Provenance: formerly in the collection of Nils Nessim (1916-1974) Note: Nils Nessim was a prominent oriental carpets dealer in Stockholm. He learnt about his trade from his knowledgeable father, Jean Benschoam, who had emigrated from Bulgaria to Sweden in the 1910s. Nils Nessim's business rapidly developed and soon started an exclusive antiques shop in the best part of Stockholm. He travelled many times to China and developed the interest in Chinese art and antiques, his collection soon became well known in Sweden. In 1959, Nils Nessim managed to receive permission from the Chinese authorities to import antiquities into Sweden from China. Part of his collections of Chinese art and antiques had been exhibited in Swedish museums.
