the container of cylindrical form, the body decorated on one side with a bearded scholar seated with a pile of books in a garden, the other side inscribed with 'Shi Shu Zhi Le (詩書之樂 The Joy of Poetry)', 'Jia Wu Zhong Qiu Shu Yu Chang Jiang' (甲åˆä»²ç§‹æ›¸æ–¼æ˜Œæ±Ÿ written at Changjiang in the autumn of Jiawu year), corresponding to 1894 AD, and further signed 'Xi Quan Shi Zuo' (錫泉æ°ä½œ Made by Xiquanshi), whilst the domed cover with a peach as finial painted with his attendent and inscribed 'Fang Yuan Re Fa' (仿元人法 Imitating the Yuan style), the base stamped with a four-character Tongzhi mark in iron-red (9.8cm high) Footnote: Provenance: Private English collection, Middlesbrough
