题识：南极星辉。拟明人笔意奉祝独鹤社长先生六秩寿诞。岁在民国戊子秋日之吉，海上闲鸥谢翔。 钤印：谢翔之印、闲鸥意造、闲鸥四十以后作题签：南极星辉，独鹤社长先生六秩大庆，戊子重阳前一日，谢翔敬祝。钤印：闲鸥 说明：上款人为严独鹤（1889-1968），名桢，字子材，别号知我、槟芳馆主，笔名独鹤、老卒、晚晴。桐乡乌镇人。历任上诲市报界联合图书馆副馆长、上海图书馆副馆长、《解放日报》编辑顾问等。谢闲鸥（1901-1980），原名翔，号月斋、海上闲鸥。浙江上虞人。钱慧安弟子。流寓上海数十年，从沈心海游，埋首丹青间。所作人物仕女可乱真钱慧安。建国后供职上海博物馆，鉴定古画。为近代六十名家之一。
