紫砂堆绘装饰源于古代漆器堆雕工艺，在坯体上用本色泥堆画，局部、细部用专制工具精雕细琢，使之质感强，有浅浮雕、薄意雕的效果。如坯体干湿度不一致，粘附力差，泥绘图案易脱落，故传世精品较少，乃紫砂装饰工艺中的上乘技法，一般为进呈宫廷御用之器。
