玉碗由整块和田白玉挖膛琢制而成，器形秀美多姿，通体光润白洁，碗壁莹薄如纸，侈口，口沿装饰一圈如意云头纹，斜壁平地下承矮圈足，碗外壁浅浮雕团寿纹及莨苕花叶，碗底一圈雕刻莲瓣纹，工艺精湛无匹。其纹饰既有中式的如意云头纹，又有异域风情的莨苕花叶纹饰，是一件典型的乾隆时期痕都斯坦风格玉雕佳作。成对保存，尤为难得。底部阴刻“乾隆年制”款。
乾隆时期，内务府和苏州设立了专门仿制痕都斯坦玉的作坊，称“西番作”。“西番作”玉器继承了痕都斯坦玉的造型别致，花纹流畅，胎体通透的优点，创造出带有伊斯兰艺术风格的玉器。
