A CHINESE 'HORSESHOE' LOW CHAIR, LATE QING DYNASTY China, late 19th - early 20th century. Carved from hardwood, possibly Huanghuali, with a dragon carved in light relief and an endless knot in openwork. Condition: Good condition with fine patina, wear, some surface scratches, nicks and dents, minor losses. Provenance: From the private collection of a German diplomat, who acquired this lot during the 1930s in China (by repute). Thence by descent.
