Kangxi period (1662-1722). The upper half of each vase depicting a scholar accompanied by his servant in a mountainous landscape, a band of peony flowers and foliage in the middle and the lower decorated with pattern of banana leaf, all between bands of flaming ocean waves painted near the mouth and rims. An apocryphal mark of Chenghua at the base. Condition: one with a small paint touch up and small chips at the mouth rim, both vases have paint touch up at foot rim, one with a visible hairline of about 5 cm, all shown in the photos, otherwise in great condition commensurate with age. Height: 11",28 cm.
