Antique bronze censer is sturdily potted in a Xian shaped traditional form, outstanding globular body, with tall, thick lid rim, and wide open flaring rim, raised thick flat foot base rim. Handles emerged from the shoulder toward the outer lip. Two Elephant head creates the shoulder pieces with archaic U-shaped curls extending from the chin outward eventually connecting further down the vessel to complete the handle grips, giving the handles a elegant presence. The neck carved by double stack key fret with taotie mask on the center. The main body carved by geometric base pattern with lot of small spheres appear on the surface. Fillet foot base carved auspicious and geometric motif. The under-base bears a reign mark, a three embossed script characters reign mark.The taotie mask can resemble protection or be a representation of the forces of nature, It has served as a warning against greediness, gluttony, sensuality, self-indulgence in Chinese culture.
