This painting incorporates skillful strokes that naturally and delicately depict sunlight reflected by different surfaces at different angles. Thus the clouds are not simply pure white, the wave tips show some brownish red, and the boat has different colors from the front to the tail, a technique used by Claude Monet’s too. The roaring sea is depicted with numerous waves, and a shadowy far away sailboat presents the width and depth of the view. The height of the boat is underscored with flying seagulls. More fantastically, the artist adds a platform high up on the mast, where many watchful sailors perch. It is indeed a master piece of artwork with great input of the mind of the artist and with great skill as demonstrated by the delicate and intricate brush strokes. Most paintings of sailboats have simply a boat with one or a few waves, without birds neither sailors perching on the mast. A similar one was advertised in 8 May 2021 Wall Street Journal, p.A5, for $124000. Dr. Robert I-San Lin Collection 5737, bought in 1971 from a leading New York auction house. With frames, the dimensions are 32.3"x28.3"Without frames, the dimensions are 24"x20"
