A GEORGE III SYCAMORE, BURR YEW, FRUITWOOD, AND SPECIMEN MARQUETRY TEA CADDY CIRCA 1790 12cm high, 13cm wide, 11cm deep Condition Report: Marks, scratchs, fine cracks and abrasions consistent with age and use. Lacking a section of stringing to the cover edge and two other sections, a berry veneer later filled, a crossbanded section later filled. The lion mask handles probably later replacements. The lock probably replaced as the interior cover is cut to accommodate it, also the escutcheon doesn't fit the elliptical veneer. Some movement to the timber including a bowed interior cover and the sides so that they don't fit together exactly flushly. Later lined with metallic paper, the base with later fabric. Evidence of old worm including a filled worm hole to the back and filled worm lines to the interior cover.
