Sergei Yakovlevich Lemeshev (Russo СергеÌй ЯÌковлевич ЛеÌмешев; 1902 – 1977) Lemeshev was born into a family of farmers and his father wanted him to become a shoemaker. In 1914, he left a parochial school and was sent to do an apprentice shoemaker in St. Petersburg. In 1917, he graduated in Tver, where he received vocal training.
