Luigi Montesanto (Palermo 1887 – Milano 1954) After studying in his hometown with the maestro Nino Santoro, debut in Carmen in Conegliano Veneto in 1909 and with the same opera premiered at La Scala in the 1912-13 season. First performer of the cloak of Giacomo Puccini in 1918 at the Metropolitan, played a brilliant international career, singing also in Lisbon, Moscow, Madrid, Paris, Prague, Buenos Aires, Chicago. In Italy she sang in various theaters, including Florence, Genoa and Palermo, where the Teatro Massimo, between 1909 and 1936, played La bohème, Tristan and Isolde, La Gioconda, Rigoletto, Un Ballo in Maschera, Andrea Chenier, Otello.
