陈巨川(1869-1957)，字作舟。幼年家贫，刻苦求学，通晓经书，工于书法。其楷书秀丽端庄，远近闻名。光绪二十三年往惠州应试，考中秀才。民国初年，巨川顺村民意，改办襄廷小学积极推行新学。毕生致力教育。受教学生2000余人，一部分成为社会中坚、商界名流。
