The canvas has good tension and the picture is in plane. The paint layer is in a good, stable condition overall. There are old losses along the right hand edge of the painting. Localised areas of retouching are mainly in the upper half of the painting and are well matched to the original. The varnish has yellowed and darkened but is even overall. There is a thick layer of surface dirt present.
