A pair of George II silver shaped circular waiters, maker's mark TG (unregistered), London 1749, the raised cast border with openwork fruiting vine, bacchic masks and shells, on cast grape and leopard head feet, engraved with a monogram HF to three centres, scratch weight 'pr 26=6' beneath, 18cm (7in) diameter, 783g (25.2 oz) Provenance: Property of a Gentleman. See Grimwade 3826 for the maker's mark attributed by him possibly to Thomas Gilpin. See also 2759 for the mark of Thomas Gilpin with a similar twin handled cup above the letters.
