PROVENANCE: John Gorse (1945-2020) of Charleston, SC. A business entrepreneurs, private collectors. A retired as senior vice president for legal and regulatory affairs in 1981. After retirement he focused his efforts on revitalizing the local area and philanthropy. His entrepreneurial drive continually motivated him to privately invest in real estate ventures and many other businesses. In addition to his impressive business acumen, he was a man of artistic pursuits, collecting antiques, porcelains, oriental rugs, and artwork of many different genres. Dimensions: Height: 13.5 cm, Diam.: 17.5 cm Chinese Ming Dynasty Guan Glazed Porcelain Tripod Censer. The porcelain potted in shallow vessel form, thick and deep, globular oval body, heavy on mid belly, short neck, wide flaring round mouth lip, and raised with short three elephant legs. Warm and uniform green glaze applied to the whole censer, with crackled glaze which details the look of several lines that appear in the crackled surface. The glazes of the whole vase are colorful, gorgeous, and showing distinguished honor. The tripod foot underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark greyish brown spotted firing marks.
