Dimensions: Height: 6.5 cm, Diam.: 13.2 cm Chinese Qing Dynasty Guangxu Gilt Double Happiness Motif Porcelain Bowl. The bowls has an open mouth, rounded lip rim, thick, deep arced body, raised with round foot ring and slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in ruby red base color which contrast against gilt fine color, depicted of repeating Chinese SuangXi calligraphy enclosed with banded ruyi shaped large pendants filled by scrolling clouds, interspersed by floral and fruiting banquets. Double Happiness, Shuangxi, translated as Double Happy, is a Chinese traditional ornament design, commonly used as a decoration and symbol of marriage, and joy. Frequently appears on traditional decorative items, associated with marriage, wedding ceremony, as well as on gift items given to the bride and groom. The color of the character is usually red. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years Guangxu Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
