Japanese silver cigarette case overlaid in coloured metals with a scene of figures dancing, marked 'Silver 950', signed verso, 86g, in fitted case, PROVENANCE: Purchased by or gifted to Mr E H Hoar when he visited Japan (on the journey that also included China in 1929), demonstrating the Carden-Loyd MkIV Tankette to the Japanese government. Ernest was a Diesel Engine Engineer who travelled with Mr Carden to demonstrate and ultimately sell these 2-man tanks to foreign governments. After China and then Japan in early 1930 they travelled to Bolivia and Peru in 1931 selling Tankettes to all those countries they visited.
