清嘉庆 翁方纲陈鸿寿款端砚/nA Chinese duan inkstone carved in rectangular form and dated to the early 19th century with a hardwood lid and base. One side features a carved poem by Lu You from the Southern Song dynasty and signed Wen Fanggang, dated Jiaqing Kuiyou (1813). The other side features an inscription signed Chen Hongshou, dated Jiaxu (1814). Dimensions are: 6 inches tall X 3 3/4 inches wide, 15.2 cm tall X 9.5 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Xiang Hanping (1890-1978), a native of Hepu County, Guangdong, was a general in the Nationalist army as well as a member of the Kuomintang Central Supervisory Committee and a representative of the National Assembly of Guangdong. During the Second Sino-Japanese War, he led the Nationalist army at the Battle of Songhu and Xuzhou. In May 1945, Xiang Hanping was re-elected to the Central Supervisory Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang. He served as the Deputy Director of Guangzhou Xingying and the Deputy Director of Guangzhou Appreciation Office. On July 27, 1946, Xiang Hanping officially retired. Aside from his military duties, General Xiang Hanping Suai read and practiced calligraphy, and he devoted his life to writing, earning him the moniker of the "Confucian General" and "Half Student." In his spare time, the general often communicated with literati such as Hu Shi, Lin Yutang, Guo Moruo, Liang Shiqiu, and other famous writers. His published work "The First Collection of General Cursive Handwriting by Xianghan Ping" shook the literary world and was acclaimed both at home and abroad./n來自香翰屏舊藏。香翰屏（1890－1978），廣東合浦縣人。陸軍中將加上將銜。國民黨中央監察委員會委員，國民大會廣東代表。歷任軍長，第四路軍副總司令，第九集團軍副總司令。抗戰期間，率部參加了淞滬會戰和徐州會戰。 1945年5月，香翰屏連任中國國民黨中央監察委員。抗戰勝利後，香相繼任廣州行轅副主任、廣州綏靖公署副主任。1946年7月27日，香翰屏正式退役。香翰屏將軍素愛讀書練字，一生究心筆硯，故有“儒將”和“半個書生”之稱。將軍治軍余暇，常與文人往來，如胡適、林語堂、郭沫若、梁實秋等著名作家，其毛筆字以大草書馳世。1966年他赴臺出席“國民大會”時，出版了《香翰屏將軍草書初集》，筆震書壇，飲譽中外。 將軍不僅是一名書法家，也算是“半個詩人”，其所作詩賦，均很出色。
