A George II walnut and feather banded kneehole desk, circa 1735, with caddie top, 70.5cm high, 76cm wide, 47cm deep For a desk of closely related form, see Christie's, London, Important English Furniture, 7th June 2007, Lot 72 (£18,000). Provenance: Property from The Manor House, Stanford in the Vale Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old splits and chips. The surface of cleaned/faded appearance. Evidence of old worm with filler used to disguise in areas filler. Later elements to feet. Handles appear original. Lock to upper drawer is a later replacement. No key present, lock is open. Various sections of replacement veneer and some sections re-stuck. Section of loss to one of the hinges of the door.
