Y A set of eight George IV rosewood dining chairs, circa 1825, in the manner of Gillows, each 89cm high, 47cm wide, 51cm deep overall Condition Report: All chairs with marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old splits and chips. Five chairs with movement within the joins of the back legs and seat rail. Evidence of old worm to seat rails with filler or dark wax used to the front of the rails to help disguise holes. Some glue residue visible to joints at undersides of seats. Some of the caned seats sagging slightly and with a few breaks to strands. One chair with tear to caning along one side rail. Another chair with tear to caning along front rail. One chair with screw and filler repair made to split through one back upright (see images). The same chair with filler applied where the other upright meets the back of the top rail.
