PROVENANCE: Stanley G Martin (1938-2019) of Marietta, GA . Stan attended High school in Albany, graduated from the University of Georgia and then entered the navy for 3 years. They moved to Atlanta where Stan worked for 35 years in Market Research International Accounts. Mr. Martin traveled extensively often taking his family with him to visit and learn about foreign countries. Finding treasures and antiques from around the world was a benefit and a passion for his family. In his retirement years he enjoyed restoring antiques as well as early model automobiles back to their original condition. Measurements: 12.25in x7.125in x 7.125in Chinese Qing Dynasty period, Red & white wrapped floral motif porcelain double gourd vase. Potted in a shape of double gourd resemblance, with two bulbous bellies conjoined together, bulbous lower section finishing into a slender bottleneck at the top, suspending a short cylindrical neck, with a straight opening lip, raised on slightly short splayed foot base and slighty concave. The exterior decorated with hand-painting in clean white under glazed base color which contrast against the iron red fine color, depicted of scrolling interlocking tendril and chrysanthemum flower blooms, enclosed with repeating taotie mask and double line red color. The glaze appearance on the iron red painting resembled the texture of an orange peel ju-pi (chu-pi) or a chicken skin. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned. Mark on base, a six under glazed blue seal script Zhuanshu characters reign mark, Made In The Years of QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
