Measurements: 2.625in x5in x 5in Pair of Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Qianlong Mille Fleur bowls. Potted with a shallow body, slight deep, thick and bulbous body, with angled cavetto elevated the steep sides upward flaring mouth rim, raised on a small round, with slight concave footing. The exterior decorated with hand-painting in mille fleur design color, depicted of thousand flowers design first appears in the late Yongzheng period becoming extremely popular in the Qianlong and was carried on throughout the subsequent Jiaqing and DaoGuang periods, usually on a gilt ground. The dense millefleurs design features naturalistic blossoming peonies, chrysanthemums, hibiscus, morning glories, roses, lotus flowers, daisies, lilies and pinks amidst an abundance of foliage, the mouth rims with gilt bands, the bases and interiors often turquoise-enameled on older pieces. The colors are harmonious, balanced, elegant and exquisite, the composition is sophisticated, simply a feast for the eye. Mark on base, a six under glazed blue seal script Zhuanshu characters reign mark, Made In The Years of QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
