East Asia, China, Republic Period, ca. mid 20th century CE. A marvelous porcelain vase adorned in hues of orange, green, blue, pink, yellow, violet, and black on a white ground. Boasting a lustrous burnish, the elegant vessel exhibits a rounded shoulder, a narrow neck, and a broad, annular rim, all atop a circular base. A pair of intricate, openwork handles flank the neck. The body of the lovely vase displays a scene of four female figures in a garden on one side and 5 lines of Chinese script which describe the scene on the other. An additional 5 lines of Chinese writing embellish the neck. Size: 10" in diameter x 22.5" H (25.4 cm x 57.2 cm) Provenance: private southern California, USA collection, acquired before 2000.
