East Asia, China, Tang Dynasty, ca. 618 to 906 CE. A charming mold-made pottery lid and handle in the shape of a fish with an umber hued glaze. The fish is in profile with pectoral, dorsal, and tail fins protruding from the edges. The ring handle projects from the center. The verso is flat, save for a short plug set in the center.
