13th-6th century BC. A cast dagger with lentoid-section leaf-shaped blade, waisted hilt with arched pommel and lateral flanges to each face to secure an organic insert. 252 grams, 36cm (14"). From an Essex antiques gallery; previously in an old collection. In Luristan, daggers produced up until the second half of the 2nd millennium BC were simple bronze or copper blades with tangs attached with rivets to a handle made of a degradable organic material.
