9th-12th century AD. A bronze mount with triangular panel, ball finial to each end, lateral lugs to the panel and raised mask(?) to the broad end, thick collar extending to the reverse. The collar is intended to fit onto a D-section staff or pole; the hole at the broader end would accept an attachment rivet.
