Mid to late 19th century AD. An oval gold memorial hinged locket with the front inscribed 'IN MEMORIAM' reserved against black enamel over white enamel hoop and at the centre a Star of David in white enamel with engraved background; the reverse engraved with floriate design separated by a chevron with a small plain cartouche at the base; internally with two empty compartments to receive images or hair curls; with a suspension loop and ring for wearing as a pendant. 5.72 grams, 25mm (1").
