This type of barrel padlock seems of Goodall's Type D, with L-shaped arms, intended to secure human or animal limbs. Comparable examples on the database PAS have been attributed Medieval (WILT-5C4A59) and Post Medieval (LON-CC4478) dates, some as recent as the 18th-19th century (CAM-92EDE2").
