A GEORGE III MAHOGANY AND BRASS BOUND WINE COOLER CIRCA 1805 Of coopered form 51.5cm high, 60cm wide, 44cm wide Condition Report: Marks, cracks, splits, knocks and abrasions consistent with age and use. The zinc liner crumpled, torn, repaired and with later nails to fix the lining to the mahogany. There is a central soldered/filled section of zinc which corresponds what looks to the underside to be a drainage hole that would have been plugged. The crossbanded top edge moulding has cracks and some repairs and replacement sections. The brass bands have some gaps between them and the mahogany presumably due to some shrinkage of the timber. There are traces of stained wax on the brass bands. The brass bands have some screw fixings at the joins of the brass bands and some pins. The legs have slight movment to the top joints. Some of the casters are missing screws and so the cappings are loose where they fix to the legs. Please see the additional photographs for a visual reference of condition. Condition Report Disclaimer
