A GEORGE III MAHOGANY PARTNERS PEDESTAL DESK IN THE MANNER OF THOMAS CHIPPENDALE, CIRCA 1780 One side with three shallow frieze drawers above an arrangement of six drawers, the opposing side with three shallow frieze drawers above a pair of cupboard doors fronted by false drawer fronts, each opening to an interior fitted with small drawers, each inset with with a bone panel and incised alphabetical letters 76cm high, 147cm wide, 85cm deep For a design by Thomas Chippendale that is remarkably similar to the desk shown here and incorporating the distinctive blind fretwork element to the frieze, see Thomas Chippendale, The Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker's Director, The Third Edition (1762), John Tiranti Ltd, 1939, see figure No LXXIX (as illustrated).
