A Chinese hardwood ruyi wand with three jade plaques dating from the 19th century. The wand comes with a display box. The carved jade plaques feature the eight Buddhist emblems. The wand itself has long tassels with metal beads. Dimensions are: the wand measures 3 1/2 inches tall X 16 1/2 inches wide, 8.9 cm X 41.9 cm, while the box measures 10 1/2 inches tall X 20 1/4 inches wide X 7 3/8 inches deep, 26.7 cm X 51.4 cm X 18.7 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: All three jade plaques are loose and have minor chipping. The wood is cracking near the head of the wand. The display box has multiple areas of loss and repair, including breaks to the glass on one side of the cover. Provenance: From Mrs. Kiang in Boston, Massachusetts.
