此件蒜头瓶形制规整，胎质细腻，修胎规整。蒜头口，长束颈，溜肩，垂腹，腹下渐收，底呈圈足。胎底细密坚致，通体施茄皮紫釉，釉面莹润，釉色凝重深沉。所施之釉发色纯正，釉质清透，挂釉均匀，色彩绚丽，像茄子皮一样的光润，故名茄皮紫。
