“甪端”[lù duān] 传说中的灵兽、瑞兽，后世讹传为角瑞。在一些宗教里，角瑞也是驱鬼降魔的法器，在道教、尼摩教里能叫到角瑞模样的法器。作为吉祥物，耶律楚材谓为“旌星之精，灵异如鬼神”。故宫太和殿两边就放着一对，用甪端护卫在侧，显示皇帝为有道明君，身在宝座而晓天下事，做到八方归顺，四海来朝，圣明地治理天下玩者爱好也。家者集成也，天下者放眼天下学习也。此器以铜铸甪瑞表面整体鎏金，成对出现，甪端体态健硕浑圆，仰首傲立，双目圆瞪，炯炯有神，整体气势威严；其角如弓做如意头状，头部可掀开，腹部中空，可作香薰使用，口张开，以便香味飘散；足踏蛇形底座。其面相、毛发、兽爪等细节刻画栩栩如生，线条流畅精细，鎏金完好金碧辉煌。
