One Chinese gilt bronze recumbent lion or foo dog. With well tooled and molded form and stylization, which makes this example rarer than most. The teeth are bared, fangs exposed, and the lion is in reluctant submission. A fine example of an early paper or scroll weight of an early period. A label from Asiantiques, Winter Park, Florida, is affixed along the interior. Provenance: Asiantiques, Winter Park, Florida; Collection of Bruce Dayton & Ruth Stricker Dayton, Minnesota.
