Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (German, 1886-1969); Le Corbusier (Swiss, 1887-1965) Mies van der Rohe: Drawings in the Collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, 1969 together with Le Corbusier ISAL Calendar, 1967 Bound ink and paper 18-1/4 x 25 inches (46.4 x 63.5 cm)(largest) Limited edition of 125 copies (van der Rohe) The Museum of Modern Art, New York, which holds thousands of drawings by Mies van der Rohe, created this publication, celebrating some of "the most beautiful renderings of the century", shortly after the architect's death in 1969. According to the 1970 press release for this publication, the 31 plates in this spiral bound edition are printed from the original drawings, which were nearly all donated to the museum by Mies directly. The release further clarifies that all of the represented projects were never realized, and that some of these images, "are among the most compelling architectural images ever made". The 1967 calendar, created by Swiss company ISAL Fenster- und Fassadensysteme, features a chronological sampling of important works from renowned architect Le Corbusier - spanning from the Ville La Roche (1923) to the posthumously built Pavilion Le Corbusier in Zurich. All photos printed in black and white and accompanied by captions in both French and German. HID03101062020 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
