signed SHIXIDAOREN, inscribed, and with two seals of the artist inscribed by Kong Guangtao with two seals ink on paper Kun Can (1612–1674) was a Chinese painter from Hunan who spent most of his life in Nanjing. His style of landscape painting was influenced by Wang Meng and he is one of the Four Monk Masters in the early Qing Dynasty. The painting shows some Lingzhi——“the mushroom of immortality”.In Chinese art, the lingzhi symbolizes great health and longevity.It was a talisman for luck in the traditional culture of China.
