An 18th century oak longcase clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the 12-inch brass breakarch dial with silvered chapter ring and matt centre with silvered subsidiary seconds and date aperture, cornered with cast and pierced gilt mask and scroll spandrels, the arch with silvered boss, inscribed 'Ben. Todd London', the hood with pagoda top and brass finials above a moulded arch pediment, a glazed door and turned columns, the trunk with arched door, on a plain base and plinth, height 230cm, with pendulum and two weights (alterations and restoration). Note: Benjamin Todd is a recorded London clockmaker, apprenticed in 1709 and made free of the Clockmakers Company in 1747. Buyer’s Premium 29.4% (including VAT @ 20%) of the hammer price.
