Postal ephemera - 1870/1887 two handwritten letters signed John H Newman (1870) and John H Card Newman 1884 known as Cardinal Newman addressed to Dr Irons and then Mrs Irons concerning Dr Irons' books. Also included in this lot is an 1887 letter from Sarah Irons to her nephew Wilfred Seymour de Winton enclosing one of the letters from Newman plus 26 autographed pieces. Cardinal Newman 1809-1890, the theologian, priest and poet, created Cardinal in 1879 by Pope Leo XIII, canonized in 2019 by Pope Francis.
