A wonderful Colonial powder horn,10.5" long, with an engraved scene of Philadelphia. Legend reads "Iacob Schoezer/ His Horn/ Made feb ye 1st 1745", British coat of arms "Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense / Dieu Et Mon Droit". Below the Soverign Coat of Arms is a banner reading "Philadelphia", with a view of the city including stockaded walls and two tall churches. There are ships in the harbor, including one flying a British flag, and a windmill visible. At the top left of the city view is a man shooting a game bird with a long rifle, at top right is a design with a cannon and other decorations. Tip does not have plug, cover is carved wood. - Dimensions: 10.75" straight across
